    Koigu, Koigu Everywhere!

  1. Step 1

Make socks. A knitter's favorite, sock patterns abound. Koigu Painter's Palette Merino wool is ideal for socks with its fingering weight and handpainted color options. Socks make great gifts and can easily be created for people of any age or gender.

Make baby items. Koigu yarns are fingering weight, which is ideal for delicate baby items. The color options come in varieties suitable for male and female infants, too. Two skeins of this yarn can make a baby sweater; with one skein you could make a hat and booties set or a pair of tiny socks.

Make a headband or hat. Fingering-weight yarn can be great for hats and headbands, especially in autumn weather when the winter winds haven't started yet. Koigu's merino wool will keep your head warm, while its weight will mean you don't overheat.

  4. Step 4

Make a sweater. An entire sweater out of fingering-weight yarn might be a lengthy project because it would require a small tool (approximately size 4 needles or an "F" crochet hook). However, you can double up your strands of this gorgeous yarn and use larger needles or hooks to make a cozy sweater in a normal amount of time.

  5. Step 5

Prevent problems. Koigu Painter's Palette yarns are 100% merino wool and also handpainted. This means that they need to be hand-washed, not machine-washed. Shrinkage can occur if you put them in the dryer, so it is best to lay your handknits flat to dry. Using a special wool wash, such as Soak products, would be the best way to care for your finished Koigu projects.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose enough yarn for your project. Plan out your project in advance and purchase enough yarn to finish the whole project. Check your dye lots. When you buy multiple skeins of the same colorway, make sure you check the dye lot so you buy them all from the same lot; otherwise, there may be significant color variations between skeins.
  • Do not put merino wool handknits in the washer or dryer. This can ruin your project.
