Facial hair is a sign of maturity, style and confidence. While many men despise facial hair, many more men consider facial hair to be part of their hairstyle. Growing facial hair is easy for many men. Maintaining full facial hair growth is a different story.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

  • Electric razor Blade razor Beard comb Tweezers

    Examination

  1. Step 1

Examine the facial hair to determine the direction in which the hair is growing. Run your fingers through facial hair from front to back and back to front.

  2. Step 2

Determine the style you want for your facial hair. There are as many ways to style a beard, mustache and sideburns as styling hair on the scalp. Study pictures of your favorite singer, athlete or even the faces of your friends to determine which beard style you want.

  3. Step 3

Use an electric razor or blade razor to shave the hair in the style you want, such as chin straps, foumanchuu, five o'clock shadow or goatee. If you notice that certain hairs are longer than others, pluck them with tweezers after shaving. Shave spots with thinning hair first. Shaving the thin spots will cause the hair to grow thicker and fuller.

  4. Step 4

Evaluate the hair growth each day. Sweep your fingers across the growth a few times each day to cultivate thick and full hair growth. Sweep your fingers with the grain of the hair to prevent ingrown hairs.

  5. Step 5

Shave with an electric razor, or blade razor, as needed. The frequency with which you shave depends on the type of style you want for your facial hair growth.

Tips & Warnings
  • When using a blade razor, always use hot water to avoid shaving rash.
  • Shaving with a dull razor can cause skin irritations and unpleasant pulling of the hair.
