How to Make Ringtones Louder

A ringtone is the specialized sound that plays whenever someone calls your cell phone. A ringtone can be music, a voice recording of someone speaking, or a sound effect. You can have one ringtone that plays for all incoming calls, or specialized ringtones for each contact in your address book. You can also make your ringtones louder or softer, depending on your needs and your environment.

1. Go to your phone's main menu. If you have a phone that flips open, you'll have to flip it open to reveal the screen and in turn the menu.

2. Locate the external volume button on your phone. On most phone models, it is located somewhere on the side or on the top.

3. Press the "UP" volume button. This will increase the volume of your ringtone.

4. Set your ringtone to your ideal volume. Most phone's have three levels of volume for ringtones--soft, loud and loudest. Press the "UP" and "DOWN" volume buttons on your phone until you get the ringtone to your desired sound level. A preview of the tone will play as you are doing this so you can judge the sound for yourself.
