How to Add a Path in Windows XP

Windows XP similar to other operating systems defines certain types of files as executable (e.g. .exe). It also defines one or several directories as a default place ("path") to look for executable files. To add another directory to the path in Windows XP, it is necessary to modify the corresponding environment variable.

      Click "Start" in Windows XP.

    • 2

Click on "Control Panel" and Switch to Classic View on the left panel.

    • 5

Scroll down the list under "System Variables" and find the "Path" variable.
