The FujiFilm FinePix S9600 is a consumer digital camera created by FujiFilm. The camera takes pictures at a 9-megapixel resolution and has a 10.7x optical zoom, which is fairly high for a consumer camera. One unique feature of the FujiFilm S9600 is that it can take both Compact Flash and xD memory cards.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn the switch on the front of the camera to the red camera icon. This will power the camera on and put it into picture taking mode. Turn the switch to the green "Play" icon when you want to review your photos later on.

  2. Step 2

Turn the wheel on the top of the camera to the red "AUTO" to enter automatic mode. The automatic mode on the S9600 will improve focus performance in low lighting conditions.

  3. Step 3

Press the shutter button on the S9600 down halfway in order to auto focus on a subject. Once your subject is in focus, press the shutter button down the remainder of the way to take a picture. You can also manually focus on a subject by gradually turning the outermost ring on the front of the camera lens.

  4. Step 4

Zoom in on a subject by gradually turning the innermost ring on the camera lens. Turning the ring to the right will zoom in on a subject, while turning it to the left will zoom out.

  5. Step 5

Press the button labeled "DISP/BACK" to turn off the camera's LCD screen. LCD screens use a great deal of battery power. Turning off the LCD screen and using the viewfinder (similar to what you would do with a film camera) to frame pictures can help you conserve power.

  6. Step 6

Press the button labeled "MENU/OK" to access the camera's menu. Scroll down to "ISO" in order to change the ISO settings in the camera. The ISO setting on your camera determines how sensitive your camera is to light. Typically, you will use a low ISO for bright conditions, and a high ISO for dark conditions.
