Instructions

  1. How to Grow Dragon Fruit

    • 1

Find a pitaya plant and cut a vine. You can also find seeds at most garden places, but growing dragon fruit using a vine cutting is the most simple way to grow dragon fruit if you do not live in the most tropical of locations.

    • 2

Keep the cut vine indoors where there is warm filtered sun. Before growing you don't need to add water, soil or hormones to the vine.

    • 3

Plant the vine in a normal, large-sized pot. Use good potting soil, such as a mixture of compost, sand, soil, peat moss and vermiculite (See References). Make sure the vine is planted into the soil about 1 to 2 inches deep.

    • 4

Water once for every two weeks, letting the soil dry between these times. By keeping the plant in filtered sunlight with a fairly warm temperature, the vine will grow from the root. After the root has formed, other vines will begin to grow.

    • 5

Let the plant grow weeks until it reaches over 10 pounds. You will begin to see the fruit populate the plate once it has reached this size.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a pot that is 25 gallon, but no larger
