How to Change a Desktop Theme

Customize your computer by selecting a theme that matches your personality.

Desktop themes allow users to add customization to their computer monitors that express their individual styles. There are thousands of desktop themes available on the Internet and preprogrammed onto computers. A desktop theme can display an individual's hobbies or their favorite movies or places. A fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical might like a Phantom of the Opera desktop theme, whereas a person who loves the beach might like a tropical sunset desktop theme.

Instructions

1. Select "Start" and click on "My Computer" to launch the "My Computer" window.

2. Click on "Control Panel" under the "My Computer" window to launch the control panel.

3. Double-click "Display" in the "Control Panel" window in launch the "Display Properties" window.

4. Select the "Themes" tab in the "Display Properties" window to launch the "Themes" settings.

5. Click on the drop-down menu under "Themes" and select a theme.

6. Click "Apply" in the "Display Properties" window to apply your new theme.

7. Click "OK" to exit the "Display Properties" window and save your new desktop theme settings.
