How to Convert Blu Ray to MPG

If you have some Blu Ray movies that you want to be able to watch on your video iPod, or other portable device, you can convert your Blu Ray movies to MPG. In order to do this type of conversion, you will need to use software that supports Blu Ray input. The Blu-ray DVD Ripper is a program that can do the Blu Ray to MPG conversion. With Blu-ray DVD Ripper, you can quickly convert your Blu Ray movies to MPG.

Things You'll Need:

  • Blu-ray DVD Ripper
  1. Step 1

    Download and install Blu-ray DVD Ripper from the iToolSoft website. This is a free download, but after the trial period, you do have to pay for the software to keep it. 2009 Blu-ray DVD Ripper price: $49.95.

  2. Step 2

    Open your DVD player drive on your computer. Insert the Blu Ray disc that you want to convert to MPG. If the movie starts to auto play, you will need to stop it.

  3. Step 3

    Open Blu-ray DVD Ripper on your computer. Click on the pop out box by "Profile" to select your output format. Select MPG, which is also labeled as MPEG-1.

  4. Step 4

    Look for the "Open Blu-Ray" button on the lower left corner. The button has a blue disc with a plus sign on it. Click on this to open the Blu Ray file from the disc.

  5. Step 5

    Locate the "Rip" button on the lower right corner. It features two green arrows in a circle on it. Click this button to start the Blu Ray to MPG conversion. The conversion is fairly quick, and then a screen will appear to let you know that it is complete. Click "OK" and you will have the new MPG files.
