How to Care for Rowenta Irons
Rowenta irons consistently rank among the best-reviewed steam irons by consumer magazines and users themselves. They're a little more expensive than other models, so you want to make sure you take very good care of your investment. With proper care and maintenance, your Rowenta iron will last a long time. Use only tap water, or if your water is hard or contains a high residue rate, use bottled spring water in your Rowenta iron. Other water sources may have chemicals and mineral elements that will become concentrated when heated and clog your iron over time, rendering it useless.

Empty the water reservoir after each use, holding it horizontally to let any residual moisture steam out, then wait until the iron has cooled to store it, preferably on its heel.

Avoid pressing the iron over zippers, metal buttons or fasteners, or other metallic items. Don't set it down on a rough surface.

Use the proper fabric setting for the item you are ironing, as some synthetic fibers such as polyester may actually stick to the soleplate if ironed at too high a temperature.

Avoid using spray starch if at all possible, as this can cause a buildup and may clog the iron's steam holes.

Clean the soleplate when needed with a hot soleplate cleaner or cleaning kit. Rowenta sells these kits via its website and in stores, although other products like the Faultless Hot Iron cleaner will also work. Use a soft, clean cloth to clean the other areas of the iron.

Don't use steam-chamber cleaners. These could damage the interior of the iron and lead to splitting and leaking. Rowenta recommends using the self-cleaning setting on their irons at least once a year, but not more than once a month.

Don't overuse the steam bursts, and allow several seconds between bursts.

Never use any household cleaners or solvents on your Rowenta iron.
