Step 1
Measure from the length of the angle to the bottom of the longest section of hair. The hair grows approximately 1/2 inch per month. If the angle is 6 inches from the longest piece of hair, then it will take approximately 12 months to grow it out.
-
Step 2
Keep the hair shorter as you grow the angle out. This is not the time to grow the hair length. You have to take more hair from the length and less hair from the angle to eventually have the two lengths meet.
-
Step 3
Take at least 1 or 2 inches off of the hair each time you go in for a haircut. It is advisable to get a trim once every 4 to 6 weeks. The more you take off of the length in the back, the sooner the shorter-angled pieces will match the length.
-
Step 4
Trim the angle of the hair very slightly every 8 weeks. This is called an end dusting and it is only done to remove the split ends. It is important to lightly trim the ends of the angle so it does not split and break. Dusting is usually less than a 1/16 of hair coming off the ends on the angle.
-
Step 5
Pull the hair back as little as possible to avoid breakage on the ends of the angled pieces. Condition the hair regularly to encourage healthy growth. In addition, take hair vitamins that contain vitamin B, lysine and biotin to maintain hair health.

Step 6
Give yourself a scalp massage in the shower to encourage blood flow and stimulate the scalp. Use the finger pads, and firmly press down while using circular motions to perform the massage.
