Clear out your stopped up ears.

As the old saying goes, you shouldn't put anything larger than your elbow in your ear. Although most people may think that getting rid of ear wax from inside the ears is an important part of daily grooming, it may be better to leave ear wax where it is. If you are having problems hearing or are feeling pain, however, that ear wax has got to go.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Pour hydrogen peroxide into your ear with an eyedropper. Turn your head to the side and slowly drip peroxide into the afflicted ear with the eyedropper. Leave your head in this position for approximately five minutes, then pour the hydrogen peroxide into the sink.

    • 2

Purchase an at-home irrigation kit. Fill the pump up with the provided saline solution and squeeze it into the afflicted ear. Allow the solution to drain over the sink.

    • 3

Take acetometophin for pain. Take two acetometophin every four hours, as indicated on the bottle.

    • 4

Go to the doctor. Your doctor will use a professional ear syringe or other irrigation tools to remove the blockage. You may experience pain and be put on prescription ear drops to reduce ear wax buildup.

    • 5

Take prescription ear drops, as indicated. Even if it seems the blockage has subsided, continue taking the medication, as prescribed, until you run out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a washcloth to gently clean your ear in the shower; never use anything else to clean your ears.

  • Using cotton swabs to clean out your ears may be the reason for your blockage.
