The Trojan virus Awax provides a gateway for infection by multiple malware files, while at the same time it attempts to disable anti-virus programs running on your computer. Your computer can become infected by the Awax Trojan virus through opening infected email attachments or through social networking websites such as MySpace. The easiest means to tell if your computer has been infected by the Awax virus is if you see an increase in pop-up advertisements on your computer as well as your real-time virus monitoring being disabled. Use of a specialized tool is normally required for the removal of the Awax Trojan.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download and install a specialized anti-virus program for removing the Awax Trojan, such as Spyware Doctor (see Resources below for the link).

  2. Step 2

Run a complete anti-virus scan of your computer's local drives using Spyware Doctor or other specialized Awax Trojan virus removal tool. In Spyware Doctor, open the program and select "Scan Local Drives" from the main menu. The anti-virus scan will commence immediately.

  3. Step 3

Select "Clean or Remove Infected Files" from the anti-virus main menu after the anti-virus has completed the full scan of your computer's local drives.

  4. Step 4

Press the Windows+E keyboard keys simultaneously to open the My Computer window. Double-click the "C:" drive. Double-click the directory that holds your Windows files.

  5. Step 5

Verify that the following files are no longer present: gebcd.dll and geede.dll. If they are not present, then you have removed the Awax Trojan virus from your computer. There is no need to modify your computer's registry manually for removal of the Awax Trojan after using Spyware Doctor to scan and remove the virus from your computer.
