Whether celebrating Easter, the Christian holiday honoring Christ's resurrection, or paying homage to Eostre, the goddess of spring, wearing a brand-new Easter bonnet is an annual springtime tradition. While many woman and girls purchase ready-made Easter bonnets, others choose to decorate their own bonnets. Decorating a bonnet can be a fun craft project; additionally, opting to decorate an Easter bonnet ensures you will be the belle of the Easter parade with your one-of-a-kind creation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Straw hat Artificial flowers Artificial leaves Ribbon Glue gun Scissors
  1. Step 1

Create a design plan and a color scheme for your Easter bonnet. You may wish to cover your entire bonnet with flowers, place flowers around just the brim of your hat or secure a small cluster on one side. Whether you choose one color or multiple colors, make sure that your bonnet will match your Easter outfit.

  2. Step 2

Purchase your bonnet and what you will need to decorate it. You can find a plain straw hat from a local discount, department or craft store. Artificial foliage is typically available at your local craft store.

  3. Step 3

Using a hot glue gun, glue the artificial flowers and leaves to your straw hat according to your design plan.

  4. Step 4

Cut two lengths of ribbon long enough to reach from the underside of the hat brim down past your shoulders, providing enough ribbon to tie a bow under your chin. Glue one ribbon to each side of your hat, on the inside of the hat close to where the hat and brim meet.

  5. Step 5

Allow the glue to dry before wearing the bonnet. You are now ready to participate in an Easter parade wearing the Easter bonnet you decorated.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add artificial butterflies, dragonflies or similar decorations to further customize your Easter bonnet.
  • Always supervise children when using glue. A glue gun gets very hot.
