Microsoft Outlook, the very popular email and contact management software, has a variety of features that make it easy to add contacts. You can add contacts by manually contacting them, via synchronizing with a mobile device, or by importing from address books. These options are convenient, but can also occasionally lead to duplicate contacts being added. Follow a few basic steps to remove duplicate contacts from Outlook.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook. Click on the word "Go" at the top of the window. From the drop-down list that appears, select "Contacts." This will open the contact navigation pane.

  2. Step 2

Look through the list of contacts and locate the duplicate.

  3. Step 3

Double-click on the duplicate contact. This will open the window with that contact's information.

  4. Step 4

Click on the delete button (labeled as an italic "X") in the upper left-hand corner of the contact's window.

  5. Step 5

Confirm that you want to delete the contact in question when prompted, and you are finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • Click on the keyboard shortcut "CTRL" + "3" to quickly open the contact navigation pane.
