How to Clean Light-Colored Leather
Because leather is used in items that are handled so often, you will inescapably have to clean it sometime--and this can be an intimidating task. A wide range of cleaning products is available commercially, but do-it-yourself methods are just as effective and much more affordable. Does this Spark an idea?

Massage a small quantity of gentle moisturizing soap (such as Dove) into the leather.

Work the soap into a foam, using a damp rag. Don't over-scrub. It will take minimal pressure to get out spots.

Clean off the soap with another damp cloth.

Use a dry towel (preferably white) to soak up excess water. Allow the spot to dry completely. If it needs to be dried promptly, dry it with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Keep the hot coils away from the fabric.

After the item is absolutely dry, apply a leather conditioner.

Tips & Warnings
Do not use baby wipes to clean leather, to preserve colorfastness. Use a white towel for light leather. Other colors may transfer to the leather, causing discolored spots.
