Dishwashers are one of today's great conveniences. Unfortunately, very specific methods need to be followed when operating a dishwasher. Using the wrong type of soap in your dishwasher often leads to bubbles everywhere. Whether you did this by accident or someone is playing a trick on you it is important to fix the problem quickly so that water or suds do not overflow and damage your floor or cabinetry.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pool/spa defoamer Downy liquid fabric softener Cold water Salt Ice

    Defoamer

  1. Step 1

    Purchase Pool/Spa Defoamer from your local home center or pool/spa retailer.

  2. Step 2

    Squirt a small amount of Pool/Spa Defoamer into the dishwasher and run the machine. This will rid your machine of bubbles.

  3. Step 3

    Repeat this procedure if the bubbles remain.

  4. Downy Fabric Softener

  5. Step 1
     

    Purchase Downy Liquid Fabric Softener from your local shopping center.

  6. Step 2

    Add a small amount of Downy to the dishwasher.

  7. Step 3

    Run the dishwasher for a few seconds.

  8. Step 4

    Select the drain cycle and drain the machine.

  9. Cold Water

  10. Step 1

    Fill a cup with cold water.

  11. Step 2

    Using the cup, sprinkle cold water onto the bubbles. Cold water will help pop some of the bubbles.

  12. Step 3

    Continue sprinkling cold water until the bubbles have gone down.

  13. Step 4

    Drain the dishwasher.

  14. Step 5

    Repeat sprinkling cold water and draining the dishwasher until all bubbles have disappeared.

  15. Ice & Salt

    Sprinkle salt in the dishwasher.

  17. Step 2

    Place ice throughout the bottom of the dishwasher.

  18. Step 3

    Run the dishwasher for a short period of time.

  19. Step 4

    Drain as much water from the dishwasher as you can.

  20. Step 5

    Repeat the steps until the bubbles have been eliminated.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start with the easiest/cheapest solution before buying any products.
  • Clean up any water/bubbles that may get on cabinetry and the floor. This will prevent water damage.
