How to Send an SMS Message

SMS, or Short Messaging Service, messages are commonly referred to as text messages. The act of sending an SMS is called "texting." To send a text message, or SMS, from a cell phone may be straightforward or may be a bit complex, depending on the cell phone model.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • SMS-enabled cell phone
  1. Step 1

    Click the "Message" button, or Click Applications > Messages > Create Message.

  2. Step 2

    Enter the phone number or email address of the SMS recipient.

  3. Step 3

    Type an SMS message. SMS messages are typically 140 characters or less.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Send" to send the SMS.

  5. Step 5

    Verify that the message was sent by checking your Message Outbox. If the message is waiting in the Message Outbox, attempt to send it again.
