How to Send an SMS Message

SMS, or Short Messaging Service, messages are commonly referred to as text messages. The act of sending an SMS is called "texting." To send a text message, or SMS, from a cell phone may be straightforward or may be a bit complex, depending on the cell phone model.

Things You'll Need

• SMS-enabled cell phone

Instructions

1. Click the "Message" button, or Click Applications > Messages > Create Message.

2. Enter the phone number or email address of the SMS recipient.

3. Type an SMS message. SMS messages are typically 140 characters or less.

4. Click "Send" to send the SMS.

5. Verify that the message was sent by checking your Message Outbox. If the message is waiting in the Message Outbox, attempt to send it again.
