A drum kit includes numerous components, one of which is the bass drum (also referred to as the kick drum) and the bass pedals (or kick pedals). There are several combinations that a player can utilize with just these two components (such as one bass drum with one kick, two bass drums with one kick on each, or one bass drum with a double kick). This article focuses on how to set up a double bass pedal on a single bass drum.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Double bass pedals Bass drum
  1. Step 1

    Adjust length and spring tension of the beaters to your liking.

  2. Step 2

    Check tightness of all screws on both pedals as well as proper tension and lubrication of chains (if they are used on your particular pedal).

  3. Step 3

    Secure bass drum with proper kick stand/leg placement.

  4. Step 4

    Clamp the right pedal to the rim of the bass drum and adjust the left pedal according to your sitting position.

  5. Step 5

    Test your double bass pedals to check if everything is to your liking.

Tips & Warnings
  • To guarantee firm left kick hold without any slippage use Velcro or duct tape on the bottom of the pedal board. Adjust seat to a comfortable position to avoid leg strain and fatigue.
