Things You'll Need:
- PC Memory stick USB/mini-USB cord
-
Step 1
Insert the PSP's memory stick into the appropriate slot in your PC. If your PC does not have a memory stick slot, connect your PSP to the computer by using the USB/mini-USB cord that came with your system.
-
Step 2
Open the memory stick in Windows Explorer. It will likely be called Drive H: or another similar letter after C or D. Alternatively, if you connected your PSP with the USB cord, open the PSP which will also be assigned a drive letter.
-
Step 3
Open the folder PSP, then open the folder MUSIC. Place your music files into this folder. You can make subfolders within this folder to keep your music organized, but you might have performance issues because different versions of the PSP firmware seem to recognize music subfolders with differing degrees of accuracy.
-
Step 4
Convert any non-MP3 music files to MP3 files in order for them to play successfully on your PSP if you have not updated your PSP's firmware. You can do this in iTunes or in third-party programs (see Resources). However, if you have the most recent version, you can play MP3, ATRAC3plus, MP4, WAV or WMA files.
-
Step 5
Close the folders, remove the storage device and replace it in the PSP (or simply unplug your PSP from the computer). You can listen to your music files on the PSP by selecting the songs you want from the MUSIC section of the PSP's main menu.
