Making mints for a wedding reception can be a fun family activity before the big day. Invite a group and have all the ingredients ready. You'll have a bonding experience and contribute to the wedding festivities.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • candy molds
  • 1 package (3 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon flavoring (vanilla or almond)
  • food coloring (several drops)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  1. Step 1

Have the candy mold ready and the other ingredients on hand. You can ask the guests to each bring one of the ingredients to spread out the costs. One could bring the powdered sugar and another bring the cream cheese, etc. The recipe makes 50 to 75 mints, so you may have to double it or triple it. Assume that each person will eat two mints at the wedding.

  2. Step 2

Stir up the softened, 3 ounce package of cream cheese with the flavoring and coloring while gradually mixing in the sugar. You may have to knead this with your fingers to get it all mixed.

  3. Step 3

Put out waxed paper in front of each helper. Give them a section of the dough. They will roll it into small balls and dip those into the granulated sugar.

  4. Step 4

Have one or two people pressing the small balls into the candy molds. Turn the molded mint out of the mold. Arrange these on a plate or cookie sheet to refrigerate or freeze them until the wedding or shower.

  5. Step 5

To keep your helpers from snacking on the mints while they work, have a light lunch right before for everyone or set out some snacks and drinks on the side.

  6. Step 6

Take the mints to the wedding reception or the shower and arrange them nicely on a fancy platter on the refreshment table.
