Auctions an Auction houses offer a budget friendly venue for buying furniture.

I do much of my shopping for various items at garage sales, rummage sales, church bazaars, and auctions. Of all of these venues, auctions offer a great opportunity to find and purchase quality furniture at a budget-friendly and cheap price. Foreclosures, bankruptcy's, estate sales, and fire sales offer an abundance of once expensive furniture at a discounted price, especially if you have the cash. Now is the time to buy.

Auctions offer a great opportunity to buy quality furniture at a very discounted price. With today's economy, more and more inventory is becoming available on the second-hand market. If you want quality furniture furnishings, hit the auction circuit. But first things first. You have to be able to find the auctions. Start with a newspaper or computer for your search.

  2. Step 2

Search through the classifieds to look for upcoming auctions. One tip to know is that most auctions take place on Friday nights, or Saturdays. Using the computer and google for auction times and places is a preferred method. Many websites provide auction info. One great website is auctionzip.com. Using your zip, this website gives you a calendar of auctions in your area and links you to the auctioneers website.

  3. Step 3

Many auctioneers have their own web sites. They usually post a description of the items up for auction with photos as well. this is a good way to narrow your auction search. Do not be afraid to call auctioneer with any questions. Most auctions have previews before the actual bidding. This is an excellent time to look at prospective purchases up close for quality.

  4. Step 4

Ask the auctioneer if any purchases you may make can be kept on property for a week or less until you secure transportation for the furniture. Most auctioneers will make accommodations. Lastly, relax, have fun, and get ready to bid on furnishings for a dime on a dollar. Stickley is now going for almost half price, and more commercial makers such as Ethan Allen is selling cheap as well. Need furniture? Buy at auctions and save money. Happy bidding.
