If your toilet is leaking, chances are your have an old flapper. Flapper is expected to be replaced every few years. Does this Spark an idea?

      Turn off the water supply to the toilet. Shut off the valve. Flush the toilet.

      Take out the old flapper.

      Pull the flapper from the pivot arm. No tools needed, just bear hand is enough. If your flapper has a circle around metal tube, you can use the scissor to cut it out. You don't need it later on.

      Buy New Flapper

      Take the flapper to the store and buy a new one. Although there is universal replacement flapper, exact model save you time and effort. The red thing in the image is the new flapper.

      Compare the new one and old, chances are you will need to cut off the circle from new flapper. If you have metal overflow tube, then you need to put the circle around overflow tube.

      Connect the flapper to the pivot arm. Done

Tips & Warnings

  • There are three holes in the pivot arm, use the one fit best. If you have hold the handle down to flush all the water from the toilet tank, likely the chain is too long.
