Things You'll Need:
- Ground beef, skillet, spatula, & freezer bags.
-
Step 1
• Once a month purchase 5-10 pounds of ground beef, crumble, fry, & drain at the same time in large skillets. Let cool, and then divide this cooked beef into pint sized freezer bags, which easily holds 1 to 1 ½ pounds of prepared ground beef. This ground beef can be frozen lying flat and takes up very little space. It can them be thawed overnight, or in just a few minutes in the microwave, to be used for healthy casseroles, spaghetti or Sloppy Joes.
-
Step 2
• Do the same thing by making meatballs and fill your freezer full of already prepared cooked meatballs. Using a scoop, form meatballs out of the raw ground beef. Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes at 350 degree’s until done. Let cool, and freeze in freezer bags and you have meatballs that usually require no thawing if you simmer them in your spaghetti sauce for a few minutes. These can also be tossed into the crock-pot with rice, or noodles, and cream of mushroom soup, or your favorite stroganoff recipe.
-
Step 3
• Another trick used often by working moms is to make 3-4 meatloaf’ s at one time. The time involved is basically the same as making one, but all the hard work, the slicing, dicing, and mixing is done in one step. After mixing everything together, shape the mixture into loaves and freeze each in non stick aluminum foil. You will need to be sure and place these to thaw in the refrigerator the night before or even 2 days before (depending on your refrigerator). It is now an inexpensive family favorite that you can have more often because the hard part is already done. While the meat loaf is baking, you can easily prepare your vegetables and soon you will have a meal fit for a king!
