Check Credit Report Online Free

Many individuals have less than perfect credit. While those without perfect credit are certainly not alone, it can make future needs very difficult – such as buying a home or leasing a vehicle. It’s important that individuals monitor their credit rating and keep a close eye on the activity. The goal of this article is to help individuals monitor their credit rating easily and quickly online.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Visit AnnualCreditReport.com.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only website officially allowed to give individuals access to a free credit report. Every person is entitled to one free credit report per year in order to monitor it – and they can get it by writing the three major credit card bureaus. However, an easier way is to simply visit the site above. By selecting the state the individual lives in, he or she can get started with the simple process needed to check the credit report.

  2. Step 2

    Pay Attention to Cost.

The cost for using the site above to check a credit report is free. However, this only applies to checking the credit once a year. In order to monitor the credit report on a regular basis, a small membership fee will be required. A credit card account is required to check the report and a small ‘handling’ fee may be also required, but to check the report actually costs nothing.

  3. Step 3

    Supply Certain Information.

In order to use the site above to check the credit report, individuals will have to supply certain information. Questions will be asked to verify the individual’s identity and to be sure that no fraud is taking place. These questions might include the last address the individual lived at, numbers within their social security number or something similar. This is to ensure that the individual logging into the site is the same as the individual that the information on the credit report is about. It’s important to know this information before attempting to login to the site.

  4. Step 4

Create a Unique User Name and Password.

Registration is required in order to use this site to check the credit report. The information is simple – address, social security number and similar information. However, the individual will need to create a name and password that should be noted somewhere in a safe place so that it’s not forgotten. This will allow the individual to login at a later time to check the report again or print out the information on the report.

By using the information above, individuals can easily check their credit report online for free in an attempt to monitor their credit score and keep it above average.
