Here is an easy to make Stage 1 Pear Puree for babies. This recipe can also be made for Stage 2 babies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Steamer
  • 1-2 fresh pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • Knife/peeler
  • Blender or food processor
  • Freezable container
  • Tablespoon measure
  1. Step 1

Add 1 inch of water to your steamer.

  2. Step 2

Place your pears in your steamer once your water has boiled and let them steam until tender.

  3. Step 3

Once your pears are steamed, let them cool down a bit before handling.

  4. Step 4

Take your cooled down pears and put them into your blender or food processor. Use the chop feature. Once your pears are chopped to a manageable size, you can use the puree feature.

  5. Step 5

If you are making this as a Stage 1 baby food, make sure that there are no large pieces.

  6. Step 6

Once your pears are pureed, you can transfer them to your containers. Measure out 2 tbls if you are making Stage 1 baby food.

  7. Step 7

If this is for Stage 2 baby food, only puree the food a little. It is okay if your food is clumpier. Just make sure there are no large pieces that your baby can choke on. Measure out 4 tbls for Stage 2 baby food.

  8. Step 8

Freeze your pear puree for up to 3 months.

Tips & Warnings
  • 2 tbls = 1 ounce
  • Wait 3 days before introducing new foods to your baby.
  • If this is the first time your baby is having this food, do not put any lemon juice to stop the browning of the pears. Wait three days first.
  • If your baby is ready for spices,(usually between 8-10 months old)you can add a little cinnamon or nutmeg.
  • If you do not have a steamer, see my article on How to Make a Homemade Steamer.
  • If your baby starts to develop a bumpy rash anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, stop feeding your baby the new food. They are allergic.
  • Do not add sugar. Pears are sweet enough on their own, and adding sugar to foods is not recommended for babies.
