How to install a trailer hitch on a 2006 Dodge Caravan

Installing a trailer hitch on a Dodge Caravan is completely different then installing a trailer hitch on a Chrysler Town and Country. So let’s get started, just follow the steps below to continue.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

1. Get your vehicle up in the air. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on jack stands.

2. On the frame of the vehicle are two bolts that will be used as the mounting bolts. Find those bolts.

3. Spray down the bolts with W.D. 40 and then remove them.

4. When you remove the back bolt, replace it with studs.

5. Now line up the hitch on the back of the van. Reinstall the mounting back bolts to the studs. Then reinstall the front bolts.

6. Now torque down the bolts. That’s it, you are done. This is only a guide. Be sure to read all instructions that came with the hitch. So go test out your new hitch.
