Did you just receive your annual upgrade offer from your cell phone service? Maybe you're just tired of your current cell phone? Either way there is a huge market in selling used cell phones. People will often want to sell used cell phones but don't know how to go about doing it. This article will explain a simple process that will teach you how to sell used cell phones profitably.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure your used cell phones are in good working order. When selling used cell phones you want to be aware of any damage to the phones. Make sure to notify the potential buyer of any defects, cosmetic or otherwise.

  2. Step 2

Cancel service to your current used cell phones. Make sure that you cancel your cell phone service before you sell the phones. If you are staying with the same cell phone provider, they can switch the service from your old cell phones to your new cell phones. You want to make sure the phones you are selling are not still serviced under your plan.

  3. Step 3

Remove SIM Cards/Memory Cards from your used cell phones. You'll want to delete all personal information from your used cell phones before you sell them. Personal information includes: photos, emails, IM, call logs, etc. The SIM cards should remain with you.

  4. Step 4

Locate your accessories for the used cell phones. You want to make sure you have at the very least the ac adapters for the used cell phones. If you have any other accessories such as car adapters, phone cases, faceplates, etc. you might think about selling them as a package price. You'll have no need for these unless they fit your new cell phones.

  5. Step 5

Complete an internet search for online auction websites, then choose the one you want to use to sell your used cell phone.

  6. Step 6

Sign up for a seller account on the auction website of your choice. This will allow you to sell the used cell phones on the auction site in one of their many listings. Be aware there may fees associated with selling on certain auction sites. Take this into consideration when determining your price.

  7. Step 7

Wait for someone to purchase your used cell phones. If someone is interested in your phone they will bid on the item or make you an offer. Once someone has purchased one of the used cell phones, wait to receive your preferred payment method for the phone.

  8. Step 8

Ship your used cell phone and accessories if included. You'll want to ship the merchandise promptly after you've received payment. Make sure you keep records of the sales transaction in case there is an issue with your cell phone bill. You'll want detailed records regarding the seller, transaction date, time and any other pertinent information.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be honest in your description of the phone
  • Make sure to receive valid payment before sending your phone
