How to Copy a Double Layer DVD

Dual layer DVDs, as the name suggests, possess two readable/recordable layers per side, which effectively double their data capacity. Dual layer DVDs are most often used for DVD movies in order to fit not only high definition video, but the menu data and special features sections. Copying a dual layer DVD requires a dual layer DVD writable/rewritable disc, and can be easily performed by any computer user.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dual Layer Recordable Disc Nero Express
  1. Step 1

    Launch Nero Express.

  2. Step 2

    Insert your dual layer DVD recordable.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the icon labeled "Image, Project, Copy."

  4. Step 4

    Select the option "Copy Entire DVD" from the right hand side of the start screen.

  5. Step 5

    Click the "Copy" button to begin the disc copy. A progress window will appear and notify you when the disc has successfully been burned.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ensure you have space available on your hard drive equal to the size of the dual layer DVD you intend to copy if you only have one DVD drive, as the contents must be written to disk first.
