How to Write an Objective for a Bridal Consultant
From the caterer to the photographer to the musicians, planning a dream wedding requires hiring many vendors, but there's one person you can hire who can help you with all of the details, small and large: a bridal consultant. Because the bridal consultant plays such a large part in your planning and your actual wedding, it's important to document your expectations in the form of a written objective that ensures that your needs are met and your big day will go smoothly.

1
Set up an appointment with your consultant to discuss your objectives and let her know that you will be producing a written document that makes your expectations clear. As a first step, determine who will be your consultant's main point of contact: you, your mother, your maid of honor or another friend or family member. It's important to let the consultant know with whom they will be chiefly communicating.
-
2
Agree on a fixed flat rate or hourly rate before continuing any further. Ask your consultant under what circumstances you may be charged additional fees; this should be in writing.
-
-
3
Discuss your consultant's involvement in the wedding rehearsal and wedding day. Will your consultant supervise the orchestration of the bridal party at the altar? Will he be available early in the morning on your wedding day to ensure proper setup? Clarifying such points now will give you a clearer sense of how the day will run.
-
4
Ask your consultant what vendors she will be responsible for securing. Will she provide you options for the entire wedding from start to finish, or will you be responsible for finding certain vendors for the big day?
-
5
Establish what hours your consultant is available and what hours you are available, as well as under what circumstances you would like to be consulted for decisions and under what circumstances he can be entrusted to make decisions.
-
6
Give your bridal consultant a general overview of your family and your fiance's family. Are there any tensions/disagreements/concerns within the families of which she should be aware during the planning process?
-
7
After you feel that expectations and boundaries have clearly been determined, create a document that outlines the sections as discussed in the above steps. For example, Step 1 can say, "I will be the chief contact for wedding planning. You can reach me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX."
-
8
Give a copy of the document to your consultant for review. You both should agree upon and sign the final version.

Tips & Warnings
In wedding planning, communication is key. Make sure you set boundaries from the outset to ensure a more stress-free planning process. Don't be afraid to inform your consultant if he is not meeting your needs. He is your vendor, and it's important for him to provide you with the best experience possible.
