How to Design a Hot Tub Gazebo

A hot tub gazebo offers protection from the elements for outdoor tubs and can accommodate a range of amenities. Gazebo design ranges from a simple roof supported by posts to elaborate enclosed structures that are fully plumbed and outfitted with electricity. Design a hot tub gazebo with your tub's size and shape in mind and consider how you use your tub. A simple structure is probably all you need if you use your tub a couple of hours a week. If your gazebo will be an entertainment focus, consider adding features that will make your guests comfortable.

    1. Designing Your Gazebo

      • 1

Design a gazebo that's large enough to accommodate the hot tub, a drying off area and seating. Use benches with hinged tops for storage along the perimeter for towels, accessories and tub chemicals.

      • 2

Build the gazebo from wood with a raised floor so the hot tub can be set flush to the floor. Use lattice-work on sides of the gazebo that face neighbor's yards or other buildings.

      • 3

Hang decorative hooks for terrycloth robes. Tuck an attractive wicker laundry hamper in a corner for dirty towels.

      • 4

Install an outdoor shower for a quick rinse after a dip in the hot tub. Outdoor showers can be plumbed or they can be devised to capture rainwater and store it until it's needed.

      • 5

Put screens on the gazebo to keep out insects and plant insect repelling foliage and flowers around the gazebo. Hang curtains made from canvas or another waterproof fabric that can be closed for privacy.

      • 6

Wire the gazebo for a mini-fridge, ceiling fan and lighting. Use a dimmer switch for the lighting so you can change the mood and put the ceiling fan on a rheostat so you can adjust the speed.

      • 7

Install a sound system with remote speakers or an iPod docking station. Design an over-the-top hot tub gazebo with a flat panel television and a DVD player in a cabinet that is protected from the elements.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Always check the chemical balance in your hot tub before you use it. Heed the manufacturer's instructions about temperature and certain chronic health conditions.
