How to Make Quick and Easy Frosting
Buttercream is a light and fluffy frosting that can be used between the tiers of layer cakes and to top cakes and cupcakes. This recipe uses a butter base and is quick, simple and sweet. In 10 minutes, it will make about three cups of frosting. - Large bowl Electric beater or electric mixer 1/2 c. butter, softened 4-1/2 c. confectioners' sugar 1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 5 to 6 tbsp. milk food coloring, optional

Basic Buttercream Frosting

Cream the butter in a large bowl with electric mixer until it is light and fluffy.

Beat in the confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract.

Add just enough of the milk to make the frosting spreadable. Beat until smooth.

Add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly for more festive frosting.

Cover bowl with a damp cloth until ready to use. To store for a longer period of time (up to two weeks), refrigerate the frosting in an airtight container. Beat well before using.
