A party by the pool is a big hit in the dog days of summer. For this informal get-together, create a playful, fun and easy way to invite your guests. Send an invitation written on an un-inflated beach ball instead of predictable paper. Beach balls can often be purchased inexpensively at dollar or discount stores, but best of all they can be brought back to the party for a volleyball game with multiple balls.
Take the beach ball out of the plastic wrapping. Lay the ball flat, without blowing it up.
2
Use a dark colored permanent marker and write, "We're going to have a ball! Hope you can join us." Add the details of the pool party such as the date, time, location, RSVP information and any other necessary information, such as reminding your guests to bring their swimsuits and towels.
3
Fold the beach ball back up and pack it in a medium sized envelope. Take the envelopes to the post office to be weighed for postage. Because of the small additional weight and bulk, mailing these invitations may take a few more cents.
Or, to save on mailing costs, hand deliver each envelope to your guests.

When the recipients open the pool party invitations, they can blow up the ball and read the details of the party.
Tips & Warnings
Alter the above suggestion using inflatable inner tubes instead of beach balls. Write something such as, "Join our inner circle of friends at a pool party," and proceed as you would with the beach balls.
Alternatively, purchase inexpensive flip-flops and write the invitation with a permanent marker on the flip-flops. Because of their size and shape, these would be more difficult to mail; hand deliver flip-flop invitations instead.
