One of the most important aspects of meeting someone new is to remember the person's name. This article will give you some tips on how to remember a person's name.

  1. Step 1

    First of all, when you meet a person and they tell you their name, repeat their name back to them when you return the greeting. If you're meeting John, say "Nice to meet you John."

  2. Step 2

    In your mind repeat their name a couple times while looking them in the face.

  3. Step 3

    If the name is a little unusual, ask how to spell their name, so you can visualize their name in your head. Visualizing names helps you remember a person's name.

  4. Step 4

    After your done talking with the new person, try to write down their name a couple times. This will be good reference and also good repetition and practice for remembering their name.

  5. Step 5

    Try to get a business card or some reference that sticks out for this person and why they are important. This could be a business reference or contact, or a funny story they told. Relating this to the name will give you something to remember the person by besides their face.
