How to Start a Modeling Agency from Home

A modeling agency provides models for a variety clients. Client can range from promotional product markets ( like in your local grocery store)to actual fashion modeling.

  • Models
  • Computer accesses
  • Company contacts
  • Talent Licence
  1. Step 1

    Think of what type of agency you will be. Do you want to have several different departments such as: High Fashion, Plus Size, Commercial Models, Children, 35+. The categories of models you can have are endless

  2. Step 2

    Since you are operating from home check the business practice laws in your state. Do you need a Talent licence to operate

  3. Step 3

    Get Connections. Find business throughout your state that will need models. Models can be used for your local grocery store to sample products, as event contributers at a non profit gala and much more

  4. Step 4

    Create a contract for models and clients. The contract should answer questions such as: What percentage will you take of your models earnings? how long can a model stay on a shoot or event for a client? etc.

  5. Step 5

    Advertise your new agency. Advertising cost could be as simple as a website and flyers around your city.

  6. Step 6

    Finally you must find models. Way is to hold an open casting call. Again get the word out about you casting call through flyers or radio advertising.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember secure a business license
  • Check if your states guide lines for implementing specific photographers or securing a registration fee from models. Some states consider securing fees from models as a FELONY.
