Use a special shampoo or special products that help to remove and block DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). DHT is responsible for most cases of hair loss. Nioxin is one such product that can help to remove DHT. Apply a volumizing product to the scalp. Mousses tend to be better options than gels because they are light. Apply the majority of the product as close to the scalp as possible, but run any excess product through to the ends of the hair.

Blow dry your hair upside-down to achieve maximum body for your thinning hair.

    • 3

Apply Velcro rollers to just the crown of your head when you hair is just about dry. Spritz the underside of your hair with volume-building hairspray before you roll. Blast each of the rollers with a blow dryer for 10 seconds and then allow them to cool off for five to 10 minutes. Remove and run your fingers through your hair to style.

Apply highlights throughout your hair. Because the scalp is usually lighter than your hair color, the highlights serve as common ground between darker-colored hair and a light scalp.

Use a minoxidil product to help regrow hair. Minoxidil is FDA-approved as a hair loss treatment to regrow hair, but can take up to four months to see results. Minoxidil products have to be applied twice daily in order to achieve and maintain results. The wait may be long, but there is an immediate bonus: these products generally do cause some volumizing by adding extra lift at the roots where it is applied.
