Step 1
The first step is to donate toys. Twice a year ask your children to clean out old toys and clothes they do not use any more. Go on trip together and donate them.
-
Step 2
Have your child organize a annual garage sale with the profits going to the charity of his or her choice. Help them find the charity make the posters and set up the sale. They can even ask friends, neighbors and relatives to donate items they are no longer using.
-
Step 3
Volunteer in your community. I know that life is busy full of sports practice work and homework. But if you do not make time to help others then your children will learn to not make time to help others. It does not have to be much. Once a weak go and read at the old folks home or help out at food bank.
-
Step 4
very year donate food. Food banks need food all year so you don't need to donate at Christmas you can do this during summer vacation or a time of year when you have more money. Find a sale at the grocery store on non perishable items and load up. Then take them to the food bank.
-
Step 5
Pick a angel from the tree and have your child shop for that child. You can try to find someone their own age and gender. Explain that they are having a tough time we need to give them a toy to help them feel better. You may be giving your child one less toy at Christmas but you are teaching them a lesson that will stay with them for their whole life.
