The best method to block spam email is to never give out your personal email address. Create a separate account to use for signing up for information or accounts. Do not use your personal email address when you sign up for anything on the internet. Many companies will sell your email address to spam companies and the junk mail starts pouring in.

If you are using Hotmail, make sure that your spam filter is enabled. Once you are logged into your Hotmail account, click "Options" and then click "More Options". Click "Filters and Reporting" under "Junk E-Mail". From here you can set the options to determine how powerful you want the spam blocker to be.
