Step 1
Establish a date to quit smoking. Mark it on your calendar and stick to it.

On the day you have marked to quit smoking, throw all of your cigarettes away. Burn them or pour bleach on them so that you are not tempted to dig them out of the trash for one last smoke.

Share your goals with family members and friends. You will need their help and support to quit smoking forever. Avoid triggers that make you smoke. If you smoke while drinking and gambling, avoid these situations as much as possible.

Step 4
If you find it too hard to quit cold turkey, purchase some nicotine gum or patches. These will help you ease of your addiction to nicotine.

Step 5
Join a support group. These groups will help you share your tips and receive tips on how to stop smoking. You can also call the National Cancer Institute Smoking Quit Line. Their toll-free number is 1-877-44U-QUIT.
