Step 1
The first step to starting your own radio program is to find a station that will be willing to host you. Your best bet for this is public access stations. If you can not go through public access then you want to try a college station with a small following(this probably will not work at a large state university ... try a small private college). If you do your homework you will be able to find one.

Step 2
The second step is to create a demo for your radio show. You will want to make this a priority and put a lot of effort into making this as professional as possible. Target an audience, are you going to be edgy, compassionate, political? You need to find a niche though, being a jack of all trades will probably not get it done.

Step 3
The next step is to pay for your air time. Find out the rates from the station then a great way to fund it is to go and get sponsors. Stick to local businesses in your area and show them your demo and why they should help sponsor you. If you can build a following then this will get easier and easier ... the first sponsor is the hardest.
