How to Make Patriotic Cupcakes

The BIG holiday weekend is coming, and you'll need plenty of goodies for guests. Here's a quick goody recipe to fit in with the celebration, and even the kids will enjoy participating in the making of patriotic cupcakes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• white cake mix
• can of whit frosting
• Wilton blue frosting color or blue sprinkles
• strawberry or any red berry jam

1. Make the cake mix per directions on box.
   Pour one coffee scoop of batter in each pan, lined with patriotic cupcakes papers.

2. Warm red preserves in the microwave for 15 seconds. Cool slightly the let the kids put one teaspoon of jelly on top of each cupcakes batter in pan.

3. Thirdly, place another scoop of batter over the jelly and cook per cake box directions for cupcakes.

4. While cupcakes are cooking, empty can of white frosting into bowl, add blue coloring and whip until color is blended well.

5. When cupcakes are cooked and cooled, the kids can frost them with the blue frosting, thus making a red, white, and blue patriotic treat!

Tips & Warnings

• Use your own recipe for white frosting, if you wish, and add blue color or sprinkles, as you like.
• Watch the bowl lickers, as batter has uncooked eggs.
