How to Refinish your Deck

This is the technique we used to refinish and seal my deck. If you follow these simple directions, add a little manual labor, you can have your deck refinished for only a few dollars.

Things You'll Need:

• Pressure Washer
• Stain
• Sealant
• Paint sprayer

1. 
    

   The first step is to go out to your deck with a pressure washer. If you do not have one you can rent one for very little money. Now take the pressure washer and carefully go back and forth across you deck doing a 4 inch swath at a time. The key is to take your time and do this right because it is very important to get an even stain. The next thing to do is to let your deck dry.

2. 
    

   The second step to do is to stain your deck. This can be done with either a paint sprayer of a paint roller. make sure to apply an even coating of stain to your deck. This way it looks uniform.

3. Now we need to add sealant coating to the deck. You can apply it using a brush, roller, or a paint sprayer. I applied three coats of sealant to my deck because I was told the better you seal it the longer it lasts before you have to do it again.
