Sometimes referred to as morphing, shape tweening in Flash lets you create the effect of having one object turn or "morph" into a completely different object.

In this tutorial I will show you a basic shape tween of how to morph a circle into a square.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flash (preferably CS4)
  1. Step 1

Launch Flash (I am using Adobe Flash CS4) and select a new flash file.

  2. Step 2

Click the first frame in your frame panel for layer 1 then select the oval drawing tool from tools panel and draw an oval on your stage as shown in the picture associated with this step.

  3. Step 3

Click on frame 30 for layer 1 in your timeline, then from the main menu at the top click on "Insert" -> "timeline" -> "blank keyframe" as shown in the picture associated with this step.

  4. Step 4

You will notice Flash has filled in frames 2 through 29 for you with some gray space. Now select the rectangle drawing tool from your tools panel and draw a rectangle anywhere on your stage as shown in the picture assocuiated with this step.

  5. Step 5

Now right click in your timeline on layer 1 anywhere between frames 1 and 30. On the pop menu that will appear (as shown in the picture associated with this step) select "create shape tween".

  6. Step 6

And that is it! You are done. To run your shape tween press the CTRL+ENTER keys on your key board at the sametime.
