If you have ever heard stories of people getting seriously injured by legal fireworks, it is always in the way that they were used. And the whole use of fireworks is in the ignition (lighting of the fuse). This article will she you how to safely use and light most common fireworks.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fireworks
  • A good lighter
  • Care and will to be safe
  1. Step 1

A personal choice of mine has been to always wear glasses. This will keep any sparks and debris from entering your eye and help keep you safe. Just ask yourself: is it worth the chance of burning your eye?

  2. Step 2

Setup ahead of time! Place any aerial fireworks pointing directly up and secure them with a few large rocks or cinder blocks.

  3. Step 3

Light the fuse at the very tip. Do this with the tip of the flame because it is the hottest part of the fire. hold the lighter or match under the fuse and not to the side. By doing this you will really reduce both the tame it takes to light the fuse, and the chance of burning yourself.

  4. Step 4

Once you see the fuse has ignited, get away from it, dont worry about looking weird jogging away, everyone who lights fireworks should do this. Plus the firework really will look better from farther away.

  5. Step 5

Also try to find a lighter that has a jet flame like the one pictured. These are not affected by the wind.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cup your hand about 3 inches from the flame of your lighter if there is wind.
  • Even with these steps, fireworks can still be dangerous, so be careful!
