How to Dye Greek Easter Eggs
Eggs dyed deep red are a traditional part of Greek and Eastern Orthodox Easter celebrations. Eggs are dyed as a symbol of the Resurrection. They are used in decorations and games and to adorn breads made for the occasion. Traditionally, the eggs are dyed on Holy Saturday, although they may be dyed on Holy Thursday. A game that is often played involves celebrants taking turns trying to crack each other's eggs by tapping the pointed ends together. The first to crack someone else's egg wins.
