1
Prepare your skin to be shaving-ready. Massage your legs under warm water to soften the hair, for easier removal. Then spread a generous amount of shaving cream across the entire surface of your legs.
-
2
It's best to use a new razor blade at least every five times you shave. Start shaving at the bottom of your ankle and work your way up to your thighs. Swipe the blade with moderate pressure against the grain of your hair. Shave 2-4 inches of your leg at a time before starting a new swipe that slightly overlaps the last. Rinse the shaving cream from your blade every few swipes. Shaving in small areas at a time reduces razor burn or irritation. In addition, you will get a closer shave, so you will have to shave less often.

Once you have finished shaving, rinse away excess shaving cream with warm water. Refrain from rewashing your legs with soap so that your skin doesn't get irritated.

4
Moisturize your skin. Use alcohol-free lotion to moisturize your legs immediately after you shave. Alcohol-free lotion will reduce any burning or redness.
