Instructions

  1. Using a Steel Ring Sizer

    • 1

Ask a jeweler to use her steel ring sizer. The ring sizer will be a large steel loop with a series of rings of different sizes.

    • 2

Take one of the rings and slide it over your finger. Make sure fits over your knuckle and rests comfortably at the bottom of your finger. If it doesn't fit, pick another ring off the loop and try again.

    • 3

Pull up on the ring to make sure it isn't too tight. You should be able to move it a little on your finger without it slipping over your knuckle too easily. If it's too tight, pick another ring off the loop and try again.

    • 4

Turn the hand with the ring upside down and shake your hand lightly to make sure the ring doesn't slip off with moderate movement. If the ring comes off, pick another ring off the loop and try again.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 2 to 4 until you find the ring that passes all the tests.

How to Use a Paper Ring Sizer

    • 6

Go to a website that offers a printable paper ring sizer (see Resources).

    • 7

Print out the ring sizer, and cut it out. It will look like a small measuring tape.

    • 8

Cut a slot on the ring sizer where directed. Insert the tab inside the slot. The numbers should be facing you.

    • 9

Put the ring tool around your finger, and pull on the tab until it is snug around your finger, but not too tight.

    • 10

Check the numbers on the side, whatever number matches the edge of the ring sizer is your ring size.
