Slideshows in Flash are sleek and visually pleasing additions to any application or Web page. Flash is a functional format choice because the Flash player is compatible with all browsers and operating systems. One way to create slideshows in Flash is to first create a slideshow in PowerPoint, then export the PPT file into Flash. Flash slideshows may be created by using a PowerPoint-to-Flash conversion utility, such as Wondershare PPT2Flash or IncrediTools PPT to Flash Studio, to save the new file as an FLV or SWF (native Flash format) file.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint PowerPoint-to-Flash conversion application

Create a Flash SlideShow from a PowerPoint Presentation

  1. Step 1

Create a slide presentation in PowerPoint. Avoid using complex graphics and animations, as they may not import well into a Flash application.

  2. Step 2

Save the PowerPoint presentation as a PPT file.

  3. Step 3

Download and install a PowerPoint-to-Flash conversion utility application.

  4. Step 4

Open the conversion application. Click "New" from the top navigation bar to create a new project.

  5. Step 5

Click "Add Files" and select the PPT file to be converted.

  6. Step 6

Select the Output File Type. Be sure to select SWF or FLV for a Flash video slideshow.

  7. Step 7

Click "OK" to begin the conversion process. A progress indicator displays a success message once the file has been converted.

  8. Step 8

Navigate to the new Flash file in Windows Explorer and verify the slideshow file in the Adobe Flash player.

  9. Create a Photo Slideshow in Flash

  10. Step 1

    Open Adobe Flash.

  11. Step 2

Click "New" on the top tool bar to begin a new Flash project.

  12. Step 3

Set the size of the stage. The stage should be a bit larger than the photos you will be importing.

  13. Step 4

Specify a background color or image for the presentation. Right-click on the background in the presentation and select "Properties." Specify the image and/or background color.

  14. Step 5

Import a series of photos onto the presentation stage. Click "File," "Import" from the top navigation menu. Select the photos and click "OK." To select more than one photo, hold the "Ctrl" key down during selection.

  15. Step 6

    Save the file.

  16. Step 7

Create a Flash file by making a Flash movie. Click on "Tools" from the top navigation menu and select "Create Flash Movie." The Flash movie created will be a slideshow of photos.

Tips & Warnings
  • FLV and SWF files created with trial versions of video conversion applications often contain a watermark in each frame of the video. Purchase the full version of the software to remove the watermark.
