Creating an alternative email for yourself can help you in a few different ways. Some people do it because their email is suddenly full of spam; some are looking for a new email address to avoid certain people who have the main one; still others may want to change their email address or add an additional email address that looks professional when applying for jobs online. Whatever the case may be, here are some steps and companies you can use to sign up for a free new email address.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign up with Yahoo. Yahoo is one of the oldest email companies around and they have spam blockers to stop the unwanted emails just in case.

  2. Step 2

Sign up with Gmail. Gmail is an email service provided by Google, and it's a user-friendly website to register a new email address.

  3. Step 3

Sign up with "Hotmail." Hotmail has actually been converted and bought out, so your email will show up as xyz@live.com instead of xyz@hotmail.com.

  4. Step 4

You can add an additional email account with the same email provider you are currently using. The easiest way to figure out how to do this for each company is to click on "help" and type in "add additional account." This option will walk you through how to add an additional account (such as Tools>Accounts>etc.). Some of these companies will let you access all of your emails from either account through synchronization.
