How to Make a Tile Design
Tiles are an excellent addition to a bathroom or kitchen. The best part about them is their design. They can have any number of colorful and beautiful designs that when placed together form a bigger and more interesting pattern. But if you want the design to look good when all your tiles are placed together, then you have to design the tile on graph paper and pay attention to a few simple rules. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Draw a tile square in one section of a piece of graph paper. The square needs to have equidistant sides and should take up just a small section of the graph paper. In this case we will make ours seven squares wide and high.
-
2
Draw in a simple pattern using the graph squares as a guide. For this exercise we will use a diamond shape. Draw the diamond shape so the corners touch the edge of the square you have drawn in the center on each side.

3
Use the graph squares to find the center of the diamond shape by counting the number of squares it crosses and dividing by two. Then count over that many squares from one side.
-
4
Draw another pattern inside the diamond shape, it can be a triangle, circle, or in this case another square. The edges of this shape (in the case of the square it is the corners) should touch the center mark you made in step 3. Use the graph squares to help draw a straight line.
-
5
Draw another square that is seven graph squares long and high right next to the first square. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to copy your tile design. Now you can see how the design will look when several tiles like it are placed next to each other.
