Things You'll Need:
- Socket wrench set
-
Step 1
Pull the motorcycle to an open, accessible area, and stand the bike on a center stand or lean it against a sturdy, secure surface.
-
Step 2
Crank the motorcycle's handlebars to the right as far as they will go. This will give you a little extra slack in the throttle cable.
-
Step 3
Loosen the bolt at the opposite side of the throttle cable entrance on the throttle assembly using a socket wrench. Slide the throttle assembly off the handlebars.
-
Step 4
Loosen the bolt the rest of the way and remove it. Open the throttle assembly. It simply pries apart from the center. Unhook the throttle cable from its housing.
-
Step 5
Pull the throttle cable through the frame of the motorcycle and down to the throttle housing on the side of the motor.
-
Step 6
Unhook the end of the throttle cable from its mounting location in its housing assembly.
